Hello! Thank you for visiting KCO Speech Language Therapy. I earned my Masters in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Emerson College. I am licensed to practice speech language pathology in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Additionally, I hold my Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
My specific areas of interest included working with people who stutter, early language development (birth-5 years) and Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). I am committed to provide evidence based and highly individualized communication therapy for my clients, based on their specific needs and goals.
With my pediatric population of clients, I strongly believe that children learn best when they are regulated and engaged in play. My philosophy is to use child led therapy for language development. Child led therapy is following a child’s interests and allowing them to take the lead in the session. This strategy helps to make these therapy sessions intrinsically motivating and meaningful to the child as opposed to following an adult directed agenda. Child led therapy allows us to become a true play partner and form authentic relationships focused on connection and trust to support the child’s language development.
Additionally, I have experience in working with the Deaf and hard of hearing populations from early intervention-high school. I have Deaf family members and have a passion for using American Sign Language in my sessions. I am a strong advocate for Deaf culture and helping my clients feel involved in their community.
